Engagement · The experience

An engagement session that feels like your relationship

You do not need a rehearsed version of yourselves. A meaningful setting, comfortable direction, and time to settle in can make space for genuine connection. The collection brings together quiet portraits and lighter moments, reflecting the energy that makes your relationship your own.

A personal approach

Choose a setting with something to say

A favorite outdoor place, an architectural backdrop, or a location tied to your story can help shape the mood. Clothing and the time of day also influence the result. Tell us about the places and ideas you are drawn to so we can discuss a direction together.

Our approach

How we approach engagement sessions

Most couples tell us they are not sure how to act in front of a camera. That is completely normal, and it is why engagement sessions begin with simple, comfortable direction. Walking together, talking, and small prompts give you something to do, and the genuine reactions in between are often where the best photographs come from.

We balance wide scenic frames that reveal your setting with close portraits that capture how you look at each other. Whether you are drawn to parks, historic streets, city skylines, or open landscapes, we can choose a place that suits your relationship and the season.

Planning your engagement photographs

Just the two of you

An engagement session is a chance to notice the small ways you connect. A shared laugh, a quiet pause, or the comfort of standing together can be more expressive than a complicated pose. Giving those moments time helps the photographs feel personal and gives your collection a natural rhythm.

A place with meaning

The background can hold part of your story. It might be a familiar outdoor setting, a place you return to together, or simply somewhere that reflects the mood you enjoy. Share the locations that interest you and what draws you to them so the setting becomes part of the conversation.

Questions

Questions about your photography experience

Why have an engagement session before the wedding?

It is a relaxed way to get comfortable being photographed together before the wedding day, and it gives you images for save-the-dates, a wedding website, or prints. Many couples simply enjoy having photographs from this chapter.

What should we wear?

Choose outfits that coordinate in color and tone without matching exactly. Comfortable shoes for walking, a second look for variety, and fabrics that move nicely all help. Let your personalities show through your choices.

Can we bring our dog?

Pets can be a wonderful part of your story. Mention it when you inquire so we can plan the timing, location, and a helper if needed to keep everyone relaxed.

When is the best time of day for an engagement session?

Softer light earlier in the morning or later in the afternoon is often the most flattering, though the right time also depends on your location and the season. We can talk through options when planning your session.
